Your Contract with God

As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, you have a contract with God. It is a contract of blessing. This contract is a guarantee of how God will work in you. This contract is called a covenant. It is the everlasting covenant, because it is made with you by the everlasting God.

God works in our lives by revealed truth. What He says, God will do. What He promises, God will fulfill. Your faith in God through Jesus Christ is based upon God's word of promise. "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). Your contract with God is based upon the foundation of God's sure promises.

The believer's contract with God is secure and certain through the blood of Jesus Christ and His glorious resurrection. It is an everlasting covenant that cannot be changed, because God changes not. "Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant . . ." (Hebrews 13:20).

God promises to work in your life as a believer. He will work in you in such a way to please Himself. Your life pleases God not because you are trying real hard. To the contrary, God works in you what pleases Him. That's God's contract with you. God will "make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you, what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory, forever and ever. Amen" (Hebrews 13:21).
