Fear of Death Defeated

"I am the resurrection and the life,
he who believes in Me,
though he may die, he shall live."

John 11:25

The fear of death has been common to all mankind. That fear can become spiritual bondage. Man's survival instinct becomes morbid to the fear of death. We seldom like to think of our own mortality. Yet, the Bible reminds us that it is appointed for all people to die. Push the thought away now, but it does return.

You can defeat the fear of death through faith in God. The God who gave you life can do it again. God is eternal. He shares His life with us. Life in this world is passing away. Your life is a gift from God with no promise of tomorrow. But, the God who gave you this life has promised to give eternal life to all who believe.

You can defeat the fear of death through faith in the Son of God. Jesus Christ said that He is the resurrection and the life. No other man in the history of mankind has dared to make such a statement. Jesus not only made it; He proved. There's an empty tomb outside of Jerusalem. His lifeless body remained there for only three days. He was raised from the dead as He promise on the third day.

You can defeat the fear of death through hope in the Son of God. When you lay down to sleep, you have hope to awaken the next day. That hope of tomorrow is so strong that you normally don't think about it. Hope in the face of death means you resign to your death knowing you will be awakened to life eternal through Jesus Christ our Lord.
