Can you think of a time when you were afraid and didn't know what to do? That's a common experience in life. When you are afraid, it's a time to call upon God for his help. It's not God's will for his people to be terrified and afraid.
You may wonder how to find God's help when you are afraid. God's word and Spirit can enable you to overcome dread and fear. God delights in speaking to you through the Bible. There are so many promises for you as a believer to be encouraged, that you may overcome all fear.
God's Spirit is able to deliver you from all fear. The Holy Spirit produces fruit in your life as a believer in Jesus Christ. The number one fruit is love. It comes first because God is love. The Bible teaches that God's love will cast fear out of your life.
Ask God for help to overcome your fear. Surrender your life to his good will. Ask God for a word of promise from the Bible to defeat fear. Invite the Holy Spirit to fill you with God's love.
"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged" (Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV).
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law" (Galatians 5:22-23).
